ATELIER VENUS

Painting is a way to convey in color what I perceive and feel. The work produced thus far covers a wide range of topics, including styles influenced by Renaissance and contemporary artists abroad, geometry, travel, and, since I relocated to Florida, reflections on the clouds and ocean.

Over time, various media and techniques will develop into a new style. Recently, I tend to blur the boundaries between representation and abstraction, between what’s real and what's constructed. Keeping the harmony and balance found in the contrast and structure, I let freedom and joy help develop the scene gradually.

A travel kit and a journal are the supplies for the explorer. Painting “plein air” when not in the studio allows the magic to work while spontaneously capturing the atmosphere on paper. Later on, those rough sketches and paintings will serve as inspiration for more detailed renderings.

Decoupage and collage play a significant role in the creations using hand-painted paper, similar to Henri Matisse and many other masters. Watercolor portraits, typically created on commission, are an additional method to express myself. I enjoy landscapes which can be depicted in collage and watercolor, whether they are realistic or abstract.

Another pastime is to “draw” icons, a relaxing moment in my painting experience using, casein paint, gold leaf, and egg tempera. Being a part of artist associations in various cities made it simpler to connect with other artists, exchange experiences and methods, exhibit frequently, and go on joint art retreats.
